Tahini Brownies
Maybe my favourite so far
Brownies are gold. But do they need sugar, butter, eggs and wheat flour? Not at all! These tahini brownies are chocolatey, fudgy, perfectly sweetened, nutty and will melt on your tongue. They have ripe bananas, cocoa, tahini and hazelnut flour inside which is why they can be considered a treat as well as potential breakfast, what do you say? Flax seeds plus oat milk are what hold them together and you can whip them up in no more than 30 minutes. Are you in for a brownie fix? Let’s get going!
Servings: 9 browniesTotal time: 30 min
For the brownies
Ingredients
¾ cup ground hazelnuts or almonds
⅓ cup coconut or raw cane sugar
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt
1 tbsp flax seeds
2 ripe bananas
¼ cup plant based milk of choice
3 tbsp tahini, plus 1 for topping
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C and line a rectangular baking dish with baking paper.
In a blender, combine the bananas, flax seed and plant based milk and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour this mixture into a bowl and add the coconut sugar, tahini, ground nuts, baking soda, cacao and salt. Which a whisk, make the dough come together. Pour onto the lined baking dish and spread (the brownies should be 1.5cm thick). Pour one tablespoon of tahini over the brownies and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
Serve with tea, coffee, more tahini if you like and a relaxed smile on your face – you made this! You chose to stand in your kitchen and bake your own delicious and nutritious treat – be proud of taking care not only of your baked-goodies-loving-soul but also your grateful body that gets to be nourished with valuable foods.
